Support LCS Freezer Meals Program

Since the onset of Covid in March of 2020, Lewis County Seniors has worked hard to produce frozen meals for our senior residents of this wonderful county.  Since our reopening in January of 2022, we have continued our freezer meal program in addition to the congregate dining experiences.  As of April, 2023, there were over 340 seniors who continued receiving meals through this program. Some only took 2 meals a week, to carry them over on the weekends, others rely on LCS for 7 meals a week.

On June 12th, I received notice that these meals are no longer covered under our current federal funding through LMTAAA/OAA. To discontinue these meals, means at least 1000 meals a month would not make it to the homes of seniors who desperately need them.  During the pandemic, many of our seniors were able to qualify for EBT/SNAP benefits which ended in May, and now the funding for this very valuable program has ended as well. With many of our seniors on fixed incomes, being able to provide food stability is a necessity, especially during these times of high prices.

Our seniors need the support of the community more than ever.

  • $200 a month pays for a senior to receive a full month of meals.
  • A donation of $100 means 1 senior can pay $3.50 a meal versus $7.

Every bit helps to offset the cost.  As it stands currently, this program costs $7000 a month to maintain at the current levels.  Please consider sponsoring a senior, or signing up on our website to make a monthly contribution towards the freezer meal program, which plays a valuable role in reducing hunger amongst our senior population.

Donations can be made on our website lewiscountyseniors.org, mailed in to 2545 N. National Ave, Chehalis WA 98532 or in person at any of our 5 sites across the county, please make sure you notate that your donation is for the Freezer meal program!

Your donation is tax-deductible and receipts are available through Lewis County Seniors, a 501c3 organization.
